... Traject is Gísli Thór Gudmundsson, an Icelander that made his debut in 2004 with his album ‘Strengir Hrynja’ (Icelandic meaning something like ‘Strings Collapse’ in english). ...
... “In the beginning I wanted to make music that sounded warm and fuzzy ” , says 24 year old Traject, “and when I started making music a few years back (seems like a lifetime ago) I was doing hip-hop beats, dirty ones - just some sampled loops and cut-up mc vocals. I even tried mc’ing over it myself. It didn’t sound good. I am not a very good rapper. I still have a recording of that on a cassette hidden away somewhere. Then I started getting very bored with the whole loop concept and badly recorded samples. I wanted to create atmospheres, sounds that evolve and mutate over time, wanted to make the sound more clean and cold and crisp like the winter air.
So I started pushing things in that direction and a few years later, my debut album ‘Strengir Hrynja’ was born.
Since then I have been preparing my next album. Programming instruments and patches, recording sounds and doing sketches of tracks. I also have various microphones for field recordings that I am using”.
The next album from Traject is scheduled for mastering late 2005 and will be released 2006. ...
